Perfume reveals their first impressions about “Spending all my Time”

If you follow Perfume Disco and also the Perfume Disco Facebook page, you’ve surely noticed the promotional pics for Spending all my Time taken from the Perfume interview on the last issue of Rockin’ on Japan magazine that came out just yesterday.

And that’s about this interview that I want to talk about, since there is quite a good part where the girls express their opinions and first feelings about their new A-side, and I think it’s really interesting and curious to read. Down here you can find a translation made by ojisan from Perfume City Forums, as usual very fast in translating all the latest infos about our girls.

Here it is:

” The first time Perfume listened to the original Spending all my Time, they were much surprised by all English lyrics and no Japanese ones. They are approaching a critical stage and don’t like to change their style when they go overseas. 

They felt uncomfortable and begged Nakata to rewrite the lyrics and add Japanese into it. They even said if their request was not accepted, they didn’t want SAMT to be an A-side song. Nakata is like God over Team Perfume, so this request was very rare. 

Now, they like Spending all my Time. Even though English lyrics are repetitive, they feel Japanese ones are more seemingly-meaningful. 

There was a definition gap for “global expansion” between Nakata and Perfume. The girls think that it is natural that everything does not always go well and they need to adjust it so they can do it.

The PV was directed by Tanaka and it is not suggestive, but very cool with surrealistic element. “


Apparently, the girls weren’t really excited about an english-only song, and expressed their disappointment to Nakata. They obviously solved the matter but this, in my opinion, means more than ever that we won’t probably hear a song similar to this in future, like happened many times in their career (think about GAME, Edge, 575, Spice…).

Also, this is the second time in a row that Tanaka is the PV director, just after Spring of Life. He is also the mind behind all the Kirin Commercials featuring Perfume.

Last Week’s Results

As always before starting let’s take a look at the results of last week’s poll. The question was: “What’s the Perfume release you’re waiting the most?”

Here we go with the results!

Well, there’s really no doubt: With 90 votes, the new Perfume single Spending all my Time is the the most awaited release from the Perfume fans, especially now that the A-side of this single and a good part of Hurly Burly have been revelaed, the hype for this single is really high!

At the second place with 24 votes we have the Perfume Global Compilation: Love the World, which we really don’t know much about it yet, and maybe that’s the reason why it makes all of us pretty curious about this release.

Moving along at the third place with 14 votes we have the JPN Live DVD that will be released in just two days in Japan, while some copies have already been shipped from Japan by online shops, ready to reach the homes of the overseas fans.

That’s it for last week’s poll, so let’s move on to the new Poll of the Week!

Perfume’s JPN Live DVD Bonus Poster revealed!

Today on the famous online shop CDjapan, a pic of the bonus poster given with the upcoming Perfume 3rd Tour JPN Live DVD has been revealed.

The pic has been cropped, and it’s showing only the main image of the poster taken from the “Have a Stroll” performance, but it’s already something to understand how the poster will look like once it will reach our homes.

A very nice image and writing that will surely make your wall look better. ;)

Once a better and complete pic of the poster will be released I will update this post, so stay tuned as always for every update about Perfume!

｢Spending all my time｣ aired on Perfume LOCKS and Teaser Trailer released: First impressions!

Finally the day has come, and today the girls unveiled for the first time Spending all my Time in its entirety!

We really didn’t know anything at all about the new Perfume A-side, and when the song finally aired today on Perfume LOCKS!, well we’ve been really surprised.

The lyrics are all almost in english, and the vibe is catchy and fresh. It’s a great song for the summer and to party with friends, but compared to the Perfume songs we’re used to, this is something completely different and clearly for the Global audience, which is fine considering their future plans of going abroad. Also, there are rumors that there will be no TV performance for this show, only Live performances.

The melody itself and the structure are repetitive and, to be frank, really nothing special: Indeed, this song is clearly influenced by the western pop sound. I honestly think this could be a good way to catch the eye of the global market, and it’s fine, but if you allow me to give a personal opinion, I hope this isn’t gonna be their future standard sound. I’m really confident in the girls, so I’m sure they will stun the world with their well known Perfume sound in future. For the moment, I’ll take this as a nice “trap” for the western audience. :P

It’s still too early to give a judgement of course, and we know that new songs take their time to grow on us, so let’s listen to Spending all my Time and enjoy it and leave your impressions here as always!

Also, at Japanese midnight (30 minutes after the end of the radio show) the Teaser Trailer for Spending all my Time has been released on the Perfume Official YouTube Channel!

It’s a very short trailer as you can see, and we can just see our girls’ legs (which is good, of course) moving and making a little dance. Really nothing that unveils much of the PV or anything else: a true teaser, that’s for sure. xD

Hi everybody guy to a new Perfume Disco Poll of the Week!

As always before starting let’s take a look at the results of last week’s poll. The question was: “What’s your favorite dance between Spring of Life and Communication?”

Here we go with the results!

Well, I guess there’s no doubt! Even though Communication has an adorable choreography and it’s loved by many Perfume fans, Spring of Life still holds the title of most favorite dance between the two songs, but there’s no doubt that both of them are very well done choreographies. How could we be disappointed by Mikiko anyway? Impossible! ;)

If you’ve followed my blog and also the Facebook and Twitter accounts, you probably already know that today we really had an overload of amazing news, including a new Perfume release, which is the new Perfume Global Compilation: “Love the World”.

In barely two months we’ll have the chance to get three Perfume releases: The new JPN Live DVD (August 1st), the new single Spending all my Time (August 15) and the very first Perfume Global Compilation Love the World (September 12).

Check out the Hurly Burly performance at Kirin’s Summer Night Digital Live!

Today (Yesterday in Japan) Perfume held their first Digital Live performance that has been broadcasted in many screens around Shibuya, including the giant one just above Starbucks and Tsutaya in the famous Shibuya Crossing.


The girls performed a short live performance with many fans attending the event, and unveiled for the first time Hurly Burly in its entirety, one of the songs included in the upcoming Perfume single Spending all my Time.
You can check out the performance and hear most of the new song in the link down below (the quality is really low since it’s been shot with a phone, but it’s still something).

Hurly Burly – Perfume Digital Live (13 minutes)

We can’t really say it’s a good quality or enough to give a judgement to the song, but at least we can catch something more from this highly awaited song.

Well, It’s been a really special day for all the Perfume fans, full of surprises and great news to look forward. :)

Perfume announces First Asia Tour and Global Compilation “Love the World”!!!

Just a few minutes ago on the Perfume Official Website, the girls announced that they will start their First Asia Tour on October, with four dates in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and Singapore!

Also, a new Compilation called “Perfume Global Compilation: LOVE THE WORLD” under Tokuma Japan Communications label will be released on September 12! These are the songs announced for the moment:

- Polyrythm
- Laser Beam
- Chocolate Disco
- FAKE IT
- FAKE IT (Video Clip – Set to be recorded on July 25 with P.T.A. Members)

(more to be announced)

Two editions (Regular CD and Limited CD + DVD) have been already confirmed and priced, but for now it’s available to pre-order only through Amazon.jp and the Tower records Online shop (Japan only): when pre orders will start on all the other major websites, it will be reported here as always.

We don’t have more details about the tracklist or the covers at the moment, and a worldwide release hasn’t been confirmed yet (it’d be really strange if it’s not), but it won’t probably take much time to find out more about the first Perfume overseas release.

Also it’s been confirmed that Spending all my Time, the new Perfume single set to release on August 15, will be available for download on iTunes in 50 countries as always, but this time we’ll be able to buy all the three songs (Spending all my time, Point, Hurly Burly) instead of only one, like happened with Spring of Life! Definitely a good step in the right way.


These are really some great and exciting news, and also the very first step for the girls to conquer the overseas audience! We all can’t wait to see our girls performing outside Japan and to get our hands on the new Global Compilation! :D

New Motion Graphic Volume up on the Perfume Global Website!

Just an hour ago, the second and new volume of the Motion Graphic Project #2 featuring Hurly Burly has been released on the Perfume Global Website!

Compared to the first entry released a couple of weeks ago, this one shows pretty much the same background with more clear polygonal models of the girls dancing to Hurly Burly, making look the choreo way more clear and enjoyable than before.

As always, you can admire the new Volume on the Perfume Global Website.


What do you think about the choreo, now that is way more clear? I believe this is probably gonna be one of the most active and energetic Perfume choreos in a while, perfect for the Summer time and for an upbeat song like this. :)
