If you are a Perfume fan, you know what I’m talking about. Yesterday was a day full of joy, surprises and news for all of us. What happened is something that nobody was really expecting; yeah, there were some rumors around the web, but it was nothing really sure and people was still skeptical… But it’s all true: Perfume left Tokuma and signed under Universal Music!
This is an huge turning point for the girls, and one of the most important steps of their career, if not THE most important step! It was in the air that something was going to happen already in November, when in an interview with the magazine Hongaku to Hito, A-chan claimed that she really wanted to extend Perfume activities abroad and to get noticed overseas: and as always, A-chan’s word is law.
Now, as we all know Universal is one of the most famous and important label in the world, and this signs the start of their overseas activities and expansion to the worldwide public; we are already seeing the beginning of this escalade with the new YouTube channel (open to comments and with every PV preview from the past) and the opening of a G L O B A L Perfume website! You can find the link here, and as you can see there is a countdown going on. At first everyone was really excited about this new website, but also confused: what’s this countdown all about? another announcement? Or just the opening of the Global Website? We still can’t answer this question, but we know one funny thing: If you press “like” on the Facebook icon or tweet with the #Perfume_um hashtag, a counter just under the countdown will grow until a maximum of “24.306″ shares, and supposedly this is a way to anticipate what the countdown is hiding. Also, all the tweets with the #Perfume_um hashtag are flowing all over the page, with some very cool effects that are slowly revealing the 3D image of the girls in the background! This is such an amazing thing, and everyone is just tweeting as hell to get the number required for what is supposed to be the opening of the Global Website. Isn’t all of this just amazing?
But here comes the greatest news. Every Perfume fan in the world is going to be super happy… cause JPN is going to be globally released on iTunes!!! Exactly, finally EVERYONE on this holy planet will be able to legally buy the last Perfume album! This is such a great and important news, and I hope that every future release inlcuding singles will follow this trend! And this is just the beginning: can you imagine all of the possibilities the girls have now that they have such a great label to support them? I wouldn’t be surprised if they would finally have the chance to perform overseas (probably in the US) or to make some appearance in foreign shows. Their worldwide exposure will be a true blessing after years and years of “prison” in the hands of Tokuma, and combined with the digital release of JPN on iTunes, the chance to get more and more overseas fans is practically assured.
This is just too awesome right? But don’t worry, there’s more! The first new single under Universal Music is already on its way, together with a new Kirin CM!!! Perfume never misses a spring release and indeed the new song, that totally sounds amazing and upbeat as you can hear in the new Kirin CM, is called “Spring of Life”. We still don’t know the release date of this nww song, but it’s sure that it will come in the next months (maybe April?). Also, the girls came back to Los Angles to shoot this new CM, and the result as you can see is just amazing!
Woah… My head is going to explode, I swear. But I’m just too happy! Finally Perfume got rid of Tokuma Japan Communications and took their chance to finally go worldwide, and I can’t believe it… it looks like a dream! The girls really deserve to be known globally, and Universal is the key to what is without a doubt a brilliant future for the girls.
I would like to think that all of this is also thanks to us: to everyone who showed their love for Perfume through the web, to everyone who never stopped believing in Perfume becoming global, to those who were at the red carpet at the cars 2 premiere, taking pics and screaming their love for the girls… they’ve seen all of this guys, they felt all of our love for us, and this has surely been a decisive factor for their new life as artists. Let me tell you this: we’ve been great.
